Academy Sports + Outdoors opens the doors to its newly-relocated San Antonio store
The new store is located at 7903 S. IH 35 San Antonio, TX 78224
KATY, TX (June 10, 2016) – Academy Sports + Outdoors (d/b/a Academy) today opened its
newest store in San Antonio, which was previously relocated from SW Military Drive. The new
store is approximately 62,000 square feet and is located at 7903 S. IH 35.
“We’re excited to offer a new and larger store that will offer the same convenience and unique
product assortment residents of San Antonio expect from us,” said Gabe Thornton, Academy
Sports + Outdoors’ senior vice president of store operations. “Whether it’s an angler preparing for
a trip to Calaveras Lake or an athlete gearing up for Friday night lights, customers will have a
new and improved shopping destination for all their sports, outdoor and lifestyle needs at
everyday low prices.”
The new location will continue to provide services including scope mounting, bore sighting, line
winding/spooling, propane exchange, racquet stringing and sell hunting and fishing licenses.
On Friday, June 17, the San Antonio community is invited to a two day grand opening
celebration. The free event includes giveaways, the Kids’ Catfish Tank courtesy of Shakespeare,
the Daisy Kids’ Shooting Booth, games for the whole family, and more. Amongst the numerous
events are line up and wins for Academy mystery gift cards and free apparel items from
Academy’s exclusive brands including Magellan Outdoors, BCG and Game Winner.
